Bodybuilding.com’s Project Mass – Round 2 – Day 16 – Strength Based Leg Day – Plus, Don’t Ever Slack On Your Endeavors

StrengthLegDayGreetings, all.

At the gym today I got a hell of a compliment. One of my friends, who’s been working-out for 20 years, warms up with 90lbs for Incline Bench Flyes, is big, as well as cut, thanked me for the advice I’d given him over the past couple weeks that set him on a path he’s real stoked about. He said I’m the first person whose advice he’s taken in 10, 15 years. I won’t lie, I felt real good about that. I love to help people, and to be able to help someone with so much experience made me feel very proud.
That’s why I said don’t ever half-ass your endeavors. When I really got into bodybuilding 5 years ago, I wasn’t doing much research, and was a bit dogmatic in my training. I stuck to one style for quite a few years, and wouldn’t listen to anything else. Well, almost 2 years ago all that changed. I began reading everything I could get my hands on, doing all the research I could, and then applying it through tests & trials. I made a choice to quit half-assing something I was doing, and instead be the very best at it that I could. What resulted from that have been the best gains of my life. I’m bigger, stronger, and more educated about the sport than I’ve ever been. I’ve helped myself become the best possible version, and have been able to help others as well.
People may say you have an ego, or it’s stupid to want to be the best at everything you do, but I say it’s foolish not too. There’s nothing bad that ever comes as a result of being your best self, and in being confident enough to stand toe to toe with anyone else in that field. As I said, no matter what the endeavor is, striving to be the best at it not only helps to create the best possible version of yourself, but can also help those around you.

It’s Sunday, which means there’s a brand new Man Movie Encyclopedia for you cats to dig. This week your boy takes a look at the underrated classic, Cobra.

As we speak, I’m amidst a new bulking plan, eating 3 cups worth of blueberry pancakes [no butter, no syrup], and 3 Jenny Craig breakfast burritos, which are damn fantastic. Right now it’s coming down to the last few pancakes, and I’m stuffed. So it’s doing that thing where the food seems to get bigger and bigger with each bite you take.

Bodybuilding.com’s Project Mass Round 2 – Day 14 – Strength Based Push Day

First up I have a new article over at 411mania, Top 5 Fighting Movies. So many bloody movies to choose from, I hardly knew where to begin. There is one major omission, and that’s Warrior. I love that movie and am completely kicking myself for forgetting it. Anyway, hope you cats dig it.

One move that I’ve talked about before, but will talk about again for the new readers, is the Sissy Squat. It has a ridiculous name, but it was named after a Greek guy who was made to constantly push a boulder up hill, only for it to keep rolling back down. So, everyday he’d push this heavy thing with his back against it, and using his legs. Well, a few centuries of that and his legs, especially his quads, got some size.
I first read about these a few years ago, and decided to give them a shot. I only did 4 sets of 8, but my quads were so damn sore for the next 3-4 days that I couldn’t believe it.  The guy who wrote the article where I first read about these said when he started doing them, his legs gained an inch in a months time. So, here’s what you do.

Find a place where you can stand on something with your heels elevated. Also, depending on your strength and flexibility, you should have something to hold on to with one hand. Now that you’re in position, you simply act like you’re gonna sit in a chair, then right before you feel like you’re gonna fall backwards, you go back up. If that explanation is confusing, have a looksee on youtube. I much prefer these to Leg Extensions, as it really works the entirety of the legs, but with a fantastic emphasis on the quads. You get a great stretch in the quads, which really activates things, and a damn fine pump to boot. How can you lose?
